Haha... gosh. Whoever reminded me that the people on this list were
pessimists and assholes were right.

It's not a scam. I have never needed an A clarinet until now, and I had to
buy one at the last minute to audition for a symphony job because there
wasn't one available to rent, and no one in the area had one I could borrow.
The person I normally borrow one from had it loaned out already and my only
option after calling every single retailer in the Charlotte/Greensboro -
South Carolina - Atlanta area the day before I was supposed to leave was to
purchase one.

I was hoping to win the position with the symphony which would then put me
in a financial position to keep the horn and pay it off. Well.. the sad
truth is I didn't win, and I can't afford to keep the instrument. I may be a
solo artist, but I'm not Stoltzman or Yo-Yo Ma making 60K per gig.

It was tooted the day I got it. Practiced on for a half hour the day of the
audition. And tooted in 2 excerpts (Firebird & Mozart Exposition), and
that's it.

There's nothing wrong with the horn at all. And contrary to less than
popular belief, the price isn't high... In fact... $2470 without shipping is
what Buffet Crampon (or "the buffet place" as the retailer called it) quoted
when I needed to special order the instrument, and that was "the best they
could do". If you want to verify this... call Casey Hames at the Hames Music
Center in Gaffney, SC which is the retailer that contacted them for me
directly when sitting in her office.

Like I said... I could care less what you paid for your instrument way back
when or what other dealers are selling their horns for. I repeat... I set
the price based on what I paid for the instrument, and unless you're
interested in buying the horn... there's no need for this random price
bitching. If the price isn't satisfactory to you, fine.... so be it.

Sounds to me the only scammers are you ppl attempting to wittle the price
and value of the horn down to less than what it's worth. $2,500 is a deal
nowadays any way you put it, and if you want to pay less... don't buy it
from me. Simple as that.

But please...grow up people. Do not try to talk trash or make me out to be a
scam artist. $2,500 is well within the avg market price for this instrument
and that can be backed by the manufacturers themselves.

Bryan

PS: For the guy who has the 1800 dollar horn... I would check to see if
that's not the E13 as opposed to the R13 model. 1800 sounds about like the
price for the E13.... which undoubtedly is a less than superior quality
horn. Don't fool yourself.

I am just wondering if the whole thing is some kind of a scam. Maybe I am
becoming too suspecious, but who buys an A clarinet for an "emergency" then
turns around and sells it after playing it a few times? That's my question.

Burned one too many times.....

of it cheap??
