But Bryan, you will never get your money back in the way you want.
That's life. As a private seller you are a less good prospect than a
dealer. You can't offer the advantages of a shop - I would guess that in
America (as in England) the law protects you a little more when you buy
from a shop. Nor do you have a choice of instruments - and I don't
recall you original email saying anything about try before you buy -
especially for those at a distance.

The only way you will see the clarinet is by making it more attractive
than a shop one. And one of the ways that you can do it is on price.
Were the price identical then I guess that everyone would buy from a
shop, unless they had played your instrument and it was exceptional. (It
may be - you didn't say) My guess is that most people would need a good
price incentive to buy a second hand (or pre-owned) instrument. I take
your point about the low level of use it has had, but you can't take
away the fact that you are selling a pre-owned instrument. It matters to
most people.

I don't see anything wrong in people pointing out your price is very
high to protect some of the possibly more innocent list members from
thinking you were offering a good deal. Good deal to them - not you.
Buffet list prices are always of academic interest only. I don't think
ANYONE charges list!

I hope no one intended to question your integrity, and I certainly
don't, but I do think you are being wholly unrealistic about this. As
well as a touch oversensitive.

Sorry... I'm not WWBW... and I don't think WWBW has ever been considered
the
standard price setter for any instrument. I've seen others as low as
$1,999
in some places now that people would like to bitch about pricing.

Point being, I'm not those sellers... and I set my own price in relation
to
how much I paid for it, and when same-day emergency shipping with FedEx
costing 170 dollars, 2,500 would actually be a drop in the amount paid
for
the instrument at the WWBW price.

And for the guy who is freaked out about the instrument being used, I
should
enlighten you that any instrument you buy is "used" 'cause they're play
tested by the manufacturer if not by someone checking out the instrument

previously. If you have qualms about someone opening the case and
touching
the instument 3 times before you got to it and then want a 300-400
dollar
knock off the price because of that, you need a serious reality check.
For
all intensive purposes, the instrument is indeed "brand spankin' new".

Unless you're interested in negotiating a price to actually buy the
instrument, I don't appreciate the price-bitching emails on & off the
list
that I've been receiving from people not even interested in buying the
instrument.

Just trying to get my money back... geez

But the price at the WW and BW for a new one is $2,375. Perhaps you are
a
bit high.
