Yes, Buffet and Klose together designed the Boehm system clarinet. That
makes them FIRST, but not AUTOMATICALLY best. Buffet has indeed become the
standard to beat, though. Some clarinets meet the standard, others exceed
it, still others fall short. Of course, whether a given instrument meets,
exceeds, or fails is totally in the judgement of the individual doing the
testing.
