George Waln was my clarinet teacher at Oberlin from 1964-'69. He was a
very sweet man and assigned many, many good etudes that I memorized
almost immediately. I am unable to comment much about him as a teacher
because I adored him so much as a person. Before I got to Oberlin I had
already played 2nd clarinet in the Tampa Philharmonic and St. Petersburg
Symphony for 3 seasons and had a couple of great clarinet teachers. I
had problems understanding why we had the curriculum that we had at that
time. ANNIE
