Which is precisely why I am horrified by the fact that next year's
Clarinetfest is down the road from me, in Maryland. I know what is going
to happen. I am going to tuck a favorite mouthpiece and well broken-in
reed in with my stuff. I am going to walk through the exhibitions
playing stuff. It could be Leblanc, Patricola, Rossi, Amati, Wurlitzer,
Hammerschmidt, Hammacher-Schlemer, Selmer...or even--mirabile
dictu!--Buffet. And I know as sure as God put me on this earth that I'm
going to be just like Goldilocks: something is going to feel JUST RIGHT
and I'm going to fall in love with some very expensive piece of wood,
irrespective of the name on the bell, and get myself into all kinds of
trouble.

That's a guarantee from us, the klutzy-hands people.
