I've been following this thread with interest. I think I must vary from =
the norm a great deal. I don't mess with reeds, my studio set-up and =
the way I teach isn't like what anyone else does, for the most part, and =
I don't tongue the way most people do apparently. But I don't consider =
that any of the ways I do these things is "wrong" either (not that =
anyone said it was).

When I tongue, it is done within the demands of the music. I think =
there are many different ways to stop the flow of air and they all =
produce different effects and can be used to convey differing emotions. =
I have used Du, Tu, Hu, the tip of my tongue on the reed, the underside =
of my tongue on the reed, my tongue on the roof of my mouth, etc.

I'm always open to suggestions, so keep those thoughts coming. My =
ability to teach effectively gets better each time I see something new =
on this list. I have learned so much from Tony, Annie, Audrey, Neil, =
Forest, Walter, Bill, Mark, Dan, Lelia, Dee and everyone else who puts =
their neat ideas up for all of us to read. My thanks goes to all of =
you.
