Here is something more for you all to ponder over!! I just learned this
recently. Sad to say since I have gone two three schools and one was the
Cincinnati Conservatory.

Example: You are in a slow 4. Eight note gets the beat. The measure consists
of a 16th note rest followed by a 16th note E on the fourth space- this is
repeated three times 16th note rest-16th note, 16th note rest-16th note
etc.. What do you do after sounding the 16th note? Do you stop the air to
end the vibration of the note OR do you replace your tongue back on the reed
stopping the air with the air pressure still going behind your tongue? I
am not dumb to just have figured this out in my playing but I don't think it
was ever explain to me.

This passage can be found in the second clarinet part of the Magic Flute. I
believe its when Tamino is saying the first aria about Pamina.
