AMAZING Armenian, Turkish and Greek clarinetting that will entice the
most recalcitrant snakes out of baskets. Unbelievable that they can get
those sounds out of a clarinet.

Have you heard the CD by the Istanbul Oriental Ensemble, "Sultan's
Secret Door"? I purchased my copy at a concert, but I imagine that a
Google search for the group's leader "Burhan Ocal" would find it for you
somewhere.

When you see them play, the clarinetist does everything exactly
*opposite* of 'proper' classic Western technique --- puffed cheeks like
a bullfrog, swollen neck with muscle cords standing out (more use of the
lung space, I presume, though swollen neck and corded muscles seem
contradictory). I do wonder what it does to their health? The
clarinetist became so red-faced that I expected him to pass out.
