Allegedly Churchill complained about an overzealous
civil servant correcting his grammar, when ending sentences
with a preposition. Now it is permitted to omit all vowels.

For those who do not know who Arthur Hutchings was
and, quite rightly, cannot be bothered to do the legwork,
he was Professor of Music at Durham and Exeter Universities
and the author of several books, where he practised what he
preached. He began to contributed to the 'Musical Times' at the age of 19.
He played the violin and piano, and composed a little. As a generally good
all-round exemplar, he was probably overtaken only by Charles Cudworth,
as all students at Cambridge (1943-1973), with an interest in music,
will attest.
