Simple maintenance (pads, corks, adjustment) almost always costs less
than buying a used instrument. An honest technician will give you an
accurate estimate, and that's what really counts --- dealing with an
honest technician in the first place. Ask other experienced musicians
in your area for recommendations of a good technician.
