I have an idea - a certainty, perhaps. Three basic steps:

1) Assemble clarinet.

2) Insert (pointy end) in mouth.

3) Blow.

There are no other absolutes that I can think of. I've seen folks sound
great on horrid-looking clarinets with bizarre setups. (I've also heard
many more folks with very expensive equipment sound poor).

Suggestions can be helpful - that's what teachers are for - but in the end
you have to figure out how to play the thing.
