'The way it spozed to be -- a year in a ghetto school' by James Herndon.

Writing on this list, I found that I was reminded of this book, which I read in
the early 70's.

(Don't know why I was reminded of it;-)

I don't any longer have a copy -- I probably gave it away in an enthusiastic
moment -- so I ordered it second-hand, and it'll be waiting for me when I get
home from Siena.

The book tells how Herndon found that the needs of his students were
considerably at variance with what he was 'spozed' to do with them, according
to the authorities of his school.

Eventually, of course, he got the sack. Still, the story of his struggle is
very heart-warming and life-affirming. I can thoroughly recommend it.

May we continue to question 'what's spozed to happen'.

Tony
