Bruce,

The Vintage clarinet comes with both a cylindrical and a conical
barrel.

R13 V B660 - This barrel is like the "standard" Buffet barrel
today (in this case, a 66 mm barrel) with a conical bore. This
can be replaced with any standard Buffet barrel if a length
change is needed for pitch.

R13 V 2 600 - This is a cylindrical barrel which would have been
similar to the standard barrel type previous to the R13, still
in use at the time of the R13. I assume this would be the
standard 66mm barrel also. I do not think you can get the V 2
600 in another length, if that one was too sharp or flat.

I like the Vintage model and appreciate the acoustical
differences from the present R13 model, but think that the
barrels are the weakest link in this scenario. I have ALWAYS
purchased replacement barrels for my Buffet and (pre Opus)
Leblanc instruments immediately after purchase, as I never liked
the conical bore of the standard Buffet barrel, nor the almost
cylindrical barrel of the pre-Opus Leblancs.

Hope this helps...
