It' been quite some time since I have posted or replied to anything on this
wonderful list, but my day job has kept me quite busy.
Mark Charette posted a forwarded message a few weeks ago from a band member
of the Lone Star Symphonic Band in Houston looking for a principal/solo
clarinet. I want to thank him for posting this message.
I was able to act on this timely posting and emailed the director using the
supplied link. He quickly responded and asked that I come to the next
rehearsal.
I am now the principal/solo clarinetist for this group of aspiring musicians
and am proud to be associated with this band. We are currently rehearsing
for a big concert in November and still in need of more clarinets in
particular from the Houston area. If you are interested, please email me off
list and I will be happy to put you in touch with the right people and
answer any questions that I can.
The music that we are rehearsing for this concert is both challenging and
fun at the same time. A couple of the pieces that we are playing is the
"Harry Potter Symphonic Suite" by John Williams as arranged by Robert W.
Smith. In addition, we are playing the first five movements from "The Lord
of the Rings Symphony" by Johan de Meij. This piece in particular is quite
challenging for all clarinets and woodwinds in general.
Here is a link to their web site if you are interested:

Thanks for all of your time.
