I just got out my Selmer Balanced Tone with the extra ring on the left hand
C/G tone hole. The extra small key on this mechanism is attached to the
3rd finger ring. It actually allows TWO extra Eb/Bb fingerings: the one you
mention (fingering E/B and using the 4th finger to get Eb/Bb) or, fingering
the C/G, raising the third finger for Eb/Bb. Both are really useful only
for trills and tremolos as far as I can determine. The articulated C#/G#
on the BT is another matter, however!
