I had a key break in my workshop, as I was easing it back into position. It was the C#/G# key and the pad cup was twited to a 45 degree angle to the tonehole.

Turns out it was a clarinet with "pot-metal" keys that someone had bent and tried to solder. It was a poor solder job, using soft solder. The heat required to do a silver solder repair caused the key to melt.

I took a key off a "salvage" clarinet, adapted it to its new surroundings, and everyone was happy.
