Subj: [kl] Tuning Rings

Thanks for the suggestion about the cork tuning rings. I have lost many
tuning rings due to the fact that I forget I have them in place and they
roll through the cracks between the boards in our ancient bandshell =
floor.
In other settings they have sometimes rolled off to locations unknown. =
At
one time I had an aluminum tuning ring. The technician who sold me that =
one
said the aluminum holds heat longer than other metals and kept the =
barrel at
a more consistent temperature. I loved it but that rolled through the =
band
shell floor. I'd love to make an exploration of the space beneath that
floor someday. Heaven only knows what might be found there.
I also would be nervous about gluing the cork into place. Would it =
be
appropriate or safe to use the spray glue? I have some Elmer's Craft =
Bond,
which is an acid free multi-purpose spray adhesive. The label says it =
is
waterproof and the vapors contain acetone, dimethyl ether, isohexane, =
and
n-pentane. In other words, don't sniff it I suppose. The label also =
says,
"no lead in formula; no fluorocarbon; no methylene chloride; no hexane; =
no
methoxy or ethoxyethanol or their acetates." A material safety data =
sheet
is available at: www.elmers.com

Is there anything there that I should not allow to come in contact =
with
the wood on my clarinet?
