Tom gives very good advice. May I also add that your barrel length might be fine, but the interior bore may be throwing your intonation haywire. I have seen it over and over.

How do you know it's your barrel, besides taking very accurate measurements and comparing it to some elusive spec? Try other barrels and see if the problem goes away - or gets worth. Either way you learn something.

I have found that about 85% of intonation problems involving the upper clarion and/or the throat tones can be resolved with a change of barrel.

It usually means you need a different taper in the bore. This also depends on the interior of your mouthpiece.
