By a mouthpiece patch, do you mean that little rubber thing you can stick on
the top of the mouthpiece so your teeth don't jar? At my repair-guy's
store, they don't come with anything and you try out the mouthpiece bare.
By the way, I was playing a B45 until recently because of the great
air-flow, but I have abandoned it because I go through reeds like crazy.
Someone told me it was because there is so much space between the mouthpiece
and the reed that the reed bends more and wears out quickly. So I got me an
RV13 lyre which has a nice tone, but my breath feels constricted and the
sound is quieter, which fellow street musicians like. The reeds definitely
last longer than the 1 hour I got per reed before (if I was lucky).
