As a corollary to this conversation, I read recently, in an official press release, that the Ravinia Festival is seriously considering cutting down on the number of Chicago Symphony concerts, in favor of the "Peter, Paul, and Mary" variety which seem to always fill the house.

The reason - the CSO concerts are loosing attendees; fewer this year than last, fewer last season than the year before.
