Dan,
What a pleasant coincidence! I read what you wrote tonight and vaguely
wondered what concert you were referring to. I shut off the computer and turned on
the TV (PBS) for a moment of mindlessness before bed, and lo and behold
someone was playing Bethoven's 4th. I watched, then got out my new excerpts book
out and followed along, and enjoyed very much listening to the 1st clarinet,
appreciating his playing, and wondering who he was. I figured it out finally
after the announcer said that it was the Mostly Mozart Orchestra. So thanks,
Dan, for telling me about him before the fact! I assume you are on the East
Coast and saw the broadcast 3 hours earlier?

Wayne Thompson

PS Does anyone know what his instrument is? It appeared to have some extra
linkage near the register key that I did not recognize.

PPS Wouldn't it be wonderful, in some future time of tremendously large
bandwidth for broadcasts, if the viewer was not at the mercy of the producer for
his camera angles, but could linger on the image of any player he chose for as
long as he wanted
.
