I've had reasonable luck with Discount Reed Company in California. A large
inventory of reeds by VanDoren, Rico, Grand Concert Select, LaVoz, Michell
Lurie (my personal favorite), Hemke, Daniels, Peter Ponzol, Marca, Pete
Fountain, Zonda, Olivieri (don't know this one at all), Queen, RKM,
Fibracell, Bari. They also have double reeds for people of double on the
English Horn or uilleann pipes:-), and a selection of neckstraps, swabs,
and reed cases.

I wish they had Alexander Superial. Strapped to a Rousseau mouthpiece on
an alto sax, there is no sweeter sound on earth than their No. 3.

I have always gotten what I wanted--including really good prices--by
ordering from them. I've also had an education in how the number 2 means
different things when applied to reeds: or I'd forgotten. I just got a box
of Lurie #2 reeds, which I know and like a great deal. I also got a box
of Grand Concert Select thick blank reeds, also #2, which make me feel like
I'm playing a brick, regardless of the mouthpiece. Well, I need to
exercise my mouth to build the embouchure back up.... Label this IMHO:
Daniels are fabulous if you want to play a bass clarinet with a tenor sax
reed. The suggestion came from Roberto of Roberto's Woodwinds in
Manhattan: at the time--about five years ago--I think he was the only
dealer in NYC who had Daniels reeds. The others I've found resistant: even
the 1-1/2 I bought for both the clarinet and soprano sax fight me every
inch of the way.

Anyway, www.discountreed.com is definitely worth a look. I will order from
them again in a heartbeat, knowing what I'm getting myself into
first. It's probably best to consult a reed comparison chart before you
type in your credit card number so it can be stolen by the NSA or an online
porn service.
