Christy Erickson asked:

<<<Roger, You're the second person to suggest Clarinet Candy. What is =
this
piece like? Degree of difficulty? Number of parts? Tempos? Who wrote
it?>>>

I will answer the questions in reverse order:

1) Written by Leroy Anderson, of "Sleigh Ride" fame.

2) As fast as you want to play it.

3) Solo/1st part can be played by the entire clarinet section in unison =
and
not detract from the musicality of the piece. (Playing while using a =
chain
saw wouldn't either, though - see below).

4) If you play it faster, it's harder.

5) It's like a piece of . . . cheese.

It is not my favorite. Pure schlock.

I had the opportunity to play this in a community band some years ago, =
at a
concert Sean Osborne as the guest soloist (he played the Messager). =
Sean
joined us for the Candy. He played it better than I did. =20
