There is a very good reason why orchestras continue to play the Sussmayr
edition of the Requiem (as well as the Beyer edition). If one choses
the Maunder, Levin, or Druce editions, the chorus has to buy new choral
scores because those editions make changes to the choral parts. The
Beyer edition, did not touch the choral music, only the orchestral
parts.

So you not presume that the continued use of Sussmayr's version implies
some kind of musical superiority of any sort.
