Subj: [kl] Mouthpiece Discoloration Warning
Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2003 23:56:54 -0400

Hello All -

I've been waiting for someone more knowledgeable about this matter than I,
but apparently my memory of a posting of a number of years ago is better
than most.

I believe that it was concerning the matter that mouthpiece material is not
as good in modern mouthpieces as it was back in the days of the Kaspers,
etc. The author of that Email stated that the reason that this was so was
because the environmental protection agency had determined that the dust
from making the hard rubber mouthpieces was in some way harmful. Thus, they
forced the manufacturers to change the ingredients in the hard rubber. The
result was an altered material that has been determined by many to be
inferior to the original mouthpiece hard rubber.

I hypothesize that the source of this current "warning" was some
bureaucratic monumental jewel of stupidity who had heard of the above action
of the environmental "Nazis" and typically jumped to the totally unjustified
bureaucratic conclusion that playing these old mouthpieces was going to kill
you. (Will the environmental "Nazis" be coming around to confiscate our
beautiful old mouthpieces "to protect us from ourselves"?)

Unbureaucratically yours,

Gene N.
