I even went to college in Tucson spending many hours in the clarinet music
department and never heard of you. I wanted to say that I didn't major in
music because I believe you don't need a degree to be a great
musician/composer. I almost went back and got my Masters in Creative
Writing until I realized it was exactly the same concept. Having a degree
doesn't prove anything. It doesn't necessarily mean that you know any more
than anyone else. It doesn't make you any more qualified to write a piece
of music. It's really crappy of you to imply that you are infinitely
smarter/better than everyone else because you compose so-called
"intellectual" pieces. How do I know you actually learned anything in
college? All those keg stands before exams can be rather trying on an
individual.

I also take issue with your statement "My likes for women
> and music are much the same: THERE NEEDS
> TO BE A HEALTHY BALANCE OF BEAUTY
> AND BRAINS; TOO MUCH OF JUST THE
> ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER IS
> DISAPPOINTING FOR ME."

As a woman and a musician, this statement is infuriating. Some of the most
beautiful music ever produced is simple beyond belief. Does that make it
any less wonderful? Similarly, my looks may have finally caught up to my
brains, but did I used to be any less wonderful? How about the wicked queen
in Snow White? She was beautiful and smart--yet pure evil. Your logic
blows.

Is Abe Galper related to Hal Galper who wrote The Touring Musician: A Small
Business Approach to Booking Your Band on the Road ?

I know this is a clarinet mailing list, but you toot your own horn in a
really annoying way, Bear.

Have a Nice Day!!

Actually, Mr. Blumberg, there is NOT ONE
person on this List that I have ever heard of, other
than on this List. So what does that mean about
you? Meanwhile, I'm sure it's fair for me to ask:

Where are the Dissertations written about either
one of you, Professor Tim Roberts, and Mr.
Blumberg? When have either of you been
nominated for a Pulitzer? Why have I never
heard of either of you, except on this List?
---------------------------------------------------------------

Well Bear, either you live in a vacuum or you are truly an idiot - I'll let
you sort it out. There are plenty of famous Clarinetists on this list who
post including Tony Pay, Abe Galper, Joze Kotar among others. Being
nominated for anything doesn't make anyone renowned as friends can do that
so the deed isn't impressive. When you write new counterpoint and variations
on Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, let us know as I may buy it ;) As for the
Pulitzer, my sister-in-law WON a Pulitzer, and her dad was the guy who wrote
the NBC International News for Tom Brokaw (NBC Intl. News Bureau Chief) and
also hired the performers for the Sunday Today Show so you could say "I
married well" even if I am an anon you never heard of. I'm surprised that he
never had you on it..........

;)
