Subj: [kl] ClarinetFest - Serialism

If anyone's curious about whether debates over serialism still resonate
with composers, check out this current thread on the Sibelius Music
composers' chat site. The long and vehement thread (173 messages the last
time I checked) quickly swerves into a discussion of serialism, and from
there rapidly segues into politics, religion, sex and personal invective.
Since the composers' web sites (hence their compositions, with audio
playback free of charge) are linked to their messages, it's easy to check
whether any of the primary participants pontificate from the platform of
percipience or from the pulpit of presumption....

(The web address may wrap to more than one line. Delete any spaces and
line-enders when pasting to the browser.)

What does everyone aim to do in their compositions?

If un-line-wrapping that long address causes problems, just go to the chat
site and look for the thread header, "What does everyone aim to do in their
compositions?" As of this morning, I think it's about a dozen or so
threads down from the top.
