Dear Cindy,
If I were lucky enough to have you for a student, right this minute,
I would advise you to call Muncy Winds at 1-800-333-6415, and place your
order to Pam or Phil for the Clark Fobes Debut mouthpiece, which sells
for $25. It has been my experience that many students perform very well
on the Vandoren 5 RV Lyre, (even 9 & 10-yer-olds), and it goes for about
$55. If you do order the Clark Fobes Debut, then I will be very
surprized if you don't like it. I would use it in a heatbeat if my
mouthpiece chipped. Clark Fobes also sells the Clark Fobes San Francisco
at Muncy Winds, which goes for close to $200 (I think, I can't remember
the price). That is also a dreamboat of a mouthpiece. For me,
personally, I like a mouthpiece which produces a beautiful clear tone,
and also can also play classical and jazz well, bend notes, and sound
good with vibrato. Clark's San Francisco mouthpiece is good for this,
and so is my new Vandoren M-30, which goes for about $55 at Muncy Winds.
