I'm sure it's merchandising strength some as the misconception that bigger
is better. The B45 is often
chosen by Band Directors because it is "louder" but being louder does not
necessarily equate with
getting the sound out of the Clarinet into to the room. I have played with
many who do have
a B45 whose sound does not get passed the end of there Bell even though they
are louder.
