Karl -

The "trill" key fingering sounds fine on my Leblanc Concerto, both as to
pitch and to timbre. (Even the 1 and 1 Eb works on my horn -only about 5
cents sharp with good timbre.)

Regards,

Of course, Marcellus learned to play before the R13 or even Hans Moennig
were available here. I have no idea what Bonade had available at the time he
taught at Curtis, either. Maybe it *was* inferior (stuffy? or badly out of
tune?) on the Buffets (or whatever Bonade played) of the 1930's and 1940's.
My Moenning-tuned pre-R13 Buffet sounds fine using the chromatic F#. The
pitch is slightly lower than 1st finger, which sometimes is a help.
