Jay - I know what you mean. My 75-year-old hands take a lot of pushing to
increase their speed. In experimenting after hearing the recording, I
managed to get some parts of the Polacca up to about 130 (somewhat sloppily)
and it seemed that Niedich's tempo was considerably faster. This is why I
guesstimated his tempo between 140 and 160 - really flying.

I would prefer to play it faster than the marked tempo. However, my fingers
seem to have a different opinion.
