What about recording directly to the computer?

I bought an M-Audio board and have a little mixer and some microphones. I
didn't buy one, but there are boards that include microphone amps (so you
wouldn't need a mixer). They come with software and you can also download
the free version of ProTools.

I have been too busy to try it yet.
