One good way of doing the tremolo from Bb above the Staff to A in the throat
register is to play the Bb with the one and one fingering (first fiinger of
either hand) keep holding the fingering and just opening the A key and
remove the thumb off the tone hole.

---------- Response from Bryan Crumpler:

Well I thought I described this correctly, but perhaps not....

The tremelo I attempted to describe is between the Bb above the staff to
the A _below_ the staff. I don't have any trouble with the Bb/A tremelo you
described above.

The piece was written with virtuoso mastery of the instrument in mind (that
performer being Stanley Drucker of the NY Phil), but I haven't heard a
recording recently enough to guage whether he actually tackles this
effectively. And if he did, I need to get in touch with him... haha...
'cause I wanna know the secret!! Publications of the piece have been edited
by him, and he didn't edit that tremelo out or replace it with something a
little more feasible (not that the piece isn't already a bear), so I'm
interested to know how, if anyone does, people tackle this monsterous finger
combo.
