Just like face-to-face communication, as human history shows.

Your argument is too strong. It's possible to achieve all of those
things on the internet, even in text, with some effort. Admittedly the
medium is much more error-prone, and you can never be sure about the
matter.

But that was always true, even in much richer environments. Ever read
'Othello'?

By the way, knocking 'one-dimensionality' is a conceptual mistake.
We already have high-definition interactive audio and video from a
'one-dimensional' bit-stream.
