When I was a freshman and sophomore I was in the guard. My freshman year the
band when away to band camp. I ended up getting "grounded" by the band
director for being accused of gagging myself BEFORE we ate lunch after
marching in the hot sun for 4 hours which certainly gave me more than enough
time to digest the food. There were a few other things to factor in, but
overall, I DID NOTHING WRONG!!!

My sophomore year, the band director quit for a job at a different school
two days before band camp was to start. He left the band with the debt for
the band camp that WE DID NOT GO TO! Durring the days we were supposed to be
at band camp, we met at an old football field and made the field show up
ourselves. It was actually good. We played this percussion feature called
"Wallbash" and we (a few guard members) had those wooden twirling rifles and
acted like we were shooting random band members and the drums hit at the
beginning, and they would fall to the ground. Then after they all died, the
rest of the band got in two conga lines and danced around the field while I
did a flag solo. Then this @#&%@#%&*@#% man comes along and takes my solo,
and makes the members of the band run randomly around the field with their
arms out like airplanes! The conga lines rocked the mullet! Everyone thought
it was good. The whole show was good! Everyone thought so! Then fortunately
that @#&#!@($!&(&(!@$&(@#%) was fired for pulling an anthrax hoax right
after 9/11/01.

We had two more band dictators that year. One retired and the other one
remains with Logan to this day.

Then my junior year I didn't go to band camp with the band. I went to the
New England Music Camp
and ditched band camp altogether. I'd call home to my friends from camp and
I got all excited because they bragged about the show. I came home very
pumped up and ready to play xylophone in the pit, and to my disappointment
the show sucked worse than the band running around pretending to be
airplanes and making pumpkin shaped formations! Then I was stuck in the show
on the baritone sax and suffered for months.

This year I will properly go to band camp for my first time, with a new
school. I already love the band after two days with them! I have had a great
time and people fight over who gets to march beside me and everything! I
can't wait until band camp now! The band is good and the director is so
sweet. When I walked in for the first time she said "OH it's Rebecca!" and
she came and gave me a hug.
