Your "gig" problem reminds me of the late Sol Hurok's (famous impresario and
agent) comment that came to be known as "Hurok's Law".

"If they don't want to come, nothing will stop them."

Hope the crowd "warms up" very soon. Have you thought of newspaper
advertising?
