Subj: [kl] About B an C above the break

I just got back from my from my gig at "The Hungry Farmer". I
accidentally erased the letter about problems with B and C above the
break.
If you keep your right hand down, as though the right hand was
fingering low F, it can greatly help the connection of B, coming from
throat A. I know that many of my students are in such a big hurry to
learn a passage for band, that they are forgetful about keeping their
right hand down. They are in such a hurry to learn a particular passage,
that they don't want to take the time to work out a smooth connection
between A and B, and the result is a "pfwah" sort of sound rather than a
smooth connection. I wish I could demonstrate in person.
Abe Galper has some marvelous short pieces in his Galper Clarinet
Method, Book 1, that work on this problem quite beautifully. Abe are you
out there? If anybody has the Galper Clarinet Method, I personally
believe that Lesson 19, #79 "Farewell Winter" is a perfect example of
how to solve the problem. I make my students go to #79 quite often. Many
people are in such a hurry to move ahead, that they probably wouldn't
take the time to learn this lovely little melody smoothly. That's all I
have to say. ANNIE
