One last time, let's see if we can clear this up even more:

If I have understood all of this in the last few weeks, this is the original observation made by NoName/James that was subsequently misinterpreted or not grasped fully:

The scenario-

1) Person on klarinet sees Martin Powell's offer and decides to send off for
one.

2) Person receives CD from Martin and listens. Upon listening, does not like
the CD (personally, I don't understand how this could happen, but I'm sure it's
happened, as our's is a fickle world).

3) Person sees praise for Martin's CD on klarinet and does not agree with it.

4) Person opts NOT to offer criticism on the list because he received the CD
for free and wants to be a decent person. A decent person who is not a music
reviewer would not insult the CD after Martin had generously sent them a copy
FOR FREE.

5) As a result, there is no criticism offered on klarinet, even though there
may be (and likely are) those out there who do not like the CD.

I believe this to be in-line with Noname/James's original statement, which I
have copied and posted below:

>I think it's more fair to say that anyone who received the CD and did
>not like it would not stoop to posting an insult or criticism on this
>list, due to his generosity. Let's keep any praise for Martin
>reasonable by not making statements for everyone who has heard it.

If I am wrong in my interpretation, then I am sorry. But if I am correct, Tony, I don't know how you can say that James was not right in his evaluation of whether the klarinet postings were representative of the population.

Conclusively,
