I agree with Christy. I started playing an old clarinet after it sat around
for some time. I bought new pads and replaced them myself. but I still had
trouble. I borrow a clarinet and did not have trouble. I then looked very
carefully and I mean very carefully and found that a key that crossed under
the trill keys managed to lift, ever so slightly, the trill key. but only
sometimes. I was a bent key. Sound like you instrument has had a busy life
and probable deserves a "body Massage" by a really good technician. I ended
up taking mine to my local repair shop and was glad I did.

You might try borrowing a clarinet and seeing how that goes. Don't know
anyone? then go to the store and try a new one.

good luck and don't wait 30 years betweeen high school and playing the horn
again, like I did. You will really appreciated it as live goes on.
