I have to agree when Tom(I think that's who it was) said that people, when told how to do something, do just the oppsite. I see it all the time in the school where I work. As to clarinets, I have to say that my present teacher has taught me a lot more than the other two I had. She not only makes the effort to tell me why I should do it(Ex. fingering exercises to strenghen and train the fingers), but she shows me by example by using music that she and I both play as members of a local community concert band. As to the dog mentioned, I like the "vacuum cleaner" anolgy, I have 3 so-called "vacuums" of my own!!!!! But, they don't eat olives! Cindy
