GAG?

Accordions and bagpipes make some people gag, I suppose. But every
instrument sounds 'good' in certain situations and not in others....
unless you define fingernails across a black board as a 'musical
instrument'. But I was listening to Henry Mancini yesterday, and he
uses accordion and harmonica in places where they are beautiful and
nothing else would fit.

So which instrument (if any) makes you gag simply because it exists, and
why?

I can't think of one myself unless you want to be very creative in your
definition of 'musical instrument' (such as fingernails on black board)
or unless you want to include misuse (such as electronic instrument too
loud, etc).

....acoustically, why *are* fingernails on black board so distressing to
most of us?
