I think it's time to drop the whole issue. I reacted similarly to Tony
Wakefield initially when I read the first post, but I have lost interest
in it. Martin Powell is a dear friend, and I have never had any
inclination to "critique" his playing, because I care so much for him
and I appreciate the virtuosity that it took for him to pay for and
produce his own CD. Tony Wakefield is also a good friend and exceptional
musician and composer. I believe that Tony is writing a clarinet
composition for Martin's son, David, who was born over a year ago in
March. Tony and I were both on pins-&-needles because baby David had to
spend some extra time in the hospital after his birth. Oops, Tony, I
hope this was not supposed to be a surprize composition. Even though
"No Name" has introduced himself and made some good points, I can't even
remember his name, so the whole argument is sort of sinking into quick
sand in my heart. I do remember that his name is James from Washington,
D.C. Welcome, James!! My 10-year-old grand-daughter, Monique, has
decided to continue playing the clarinet after all. She wants one of
those Leblanc-Vito-Dazzlers, a solid white plastic clarinet, so I just
ordered her one from Muncy. Monique is going with me today while I teach
my younger students. Wish us luck. Her other grand-ma is very seriouly
ill and has been in-&-out of the hospital. ANNIE
