Tony, You're right about not listening closely enough in my case. I =
simply
had not listened to the CD intently enough to notice the chord. Perhaps =
my
dog's howling interfered but I rather liked that chord after you =
mentioned
it and I listened again. I don't think it spoils the CD in any way and =
most
likely no one but a clarinet player would know whether is was supposed =
to be
there or not. In my case, I have quite a few beginning students and my =
very
advanced students are passed on to Andrea Splittberger-Rosen but I love =
to
have new recordings for them to listen to. In fact, there is one =
student I
still keep in touch with quite closely and I would love to have one of =
those
CD's for her. She is a very talented young lady who loves her clarinet =
and
I hope she continues with her clarinet in college. For most of my =
students,
it is enough just to have them listen to the tone and the versatility of =
the
clarinet, much less worry about a piano chord in the middle of the
Stravinsky. =20
Speaking of the piano parts, I loved Stephen's performance as an
accompanist. I love to accompany and aside from playing my clarinet,
accompanying is one of my favorite things to do. Although I cannot =
recall
offhand which piece it was, at one point the piano took on an almost
bell-like sound and I wondered if another sound had been layered with it
during the editing process. It was an almost magical type effect and if =
it
wasn't edited, that was truly some magical piano playing. My computer =
sound
card simply does not do justice to the recording and since my husband is =
at
Boy Scout Camp with my son in the van right now, I'll have to wait until =
he
returns to listen to it again on that sound system. It is strange to =
say it
but I think that sound system is the best we have. =20
