The question was rhetorical; I know that you didn't post about the disc
subsequent to hearing it.

My "Stravinsky!" was just an attempt to recreate in this medium the sort
of shock that the interpolated piano chord on the disc generates in me
whenever I listen to the recording. It's nothing like my response to an
audience cough.

Oh gosh.

I wondered, as I wrote my previous two posts, whether or not to add
another line, which was:

....but I thought it couldn't *possibly* be necessary.

May I say, to begin with, that in my opinion your posts to this list
have been exemplary, and I really welcome your contribution.

I make it a policy not to comment here on my colleagues' professional
work. My post, like NoName's, was simply directed generally at members
of this list, and how they respond to such professional work, which
incidentally sometimes includes my own.

The burden of my post was firstly that I find it surprising that such an
extraordinary event as the inclusion of a piano chord in the Stravinsky
3 pieces should escape passing mention by someone commenting here about
the disc. And secondly, that I find it absolutely incredible that it
should escape passing mention by *everyone* commenting here about the
disc.

Let me be totally clear that in my view, to make such a passing mention
would in no way a be a criticism of Martin, any more than my talking
about the matter now is a criticism of Martin.

But failing to make such mention is rather similar to failing to mention
in the review of a live concert the falling of a chandelier during one
of the pieces.

Such a failure would say something about the reviewer, not about the
performance. In fact, it would make one question whether the reviewer
was even present at all of the performance.

That's what I was getting at. I wanted to ask the 'reviewers' how it
could possibly have happened; in the hope that even if I didn't get an
answer, it might make them 'review' more responsibly the next time.
