I'm not certain that I understand your question, or the meaning of
"Stravinsky!" in your post, and I don't want to criticize Martin's
recording as a whole --- because I enjoy the recording and I would like
to hear Martin play live some day; but I *did* have "Son et Lumiere" in
mind specifically when I tried to start a thread perhaps 3 weeks ago
about "honesty" in sound engineering. I just didn't want to mention
any names in particular.

There are moments in the recording when I don't know whether I'm
listening to Martin or to the recording engineer. The emphasis on
reverberation in Three Pieces is certainly one example, and Martin
posted some time ago that a moment of apparent circular breathing was
really the result of editing on this CD.

Benjamin Moss was the only person to respond to my post, and his reply
was basically "It costs too much to re-record a zillion times. Editing
is an economic necessity."

If anyone wants to discuss this issue in more detail, without making an
attempt to savage one particular recording, I'm interested in hearing
other people's opinions.
