That's not true. The Kinder-Klari is a legitimate Eb clarinet. It doesn't
have all of the trill keys, or the redundant pinky keys, in order to save
weight, but it's not a toy. When Mr. Denman was required to play Eb parts
in concerts with the TSO, he used a Kinder-Klari, and he told me that
other professionals used them too if they needed an Eb in a pinch, because
they were light, affordable, and sufficient for most purposes.

I never actually played on one, but I have seen them; his studio was
filled with brightly colored backpack cases. I thought it was a great
idea, as a way to teach children on a modified Boehm system instrument
before their hands were big enough to hold a Bb clarinet.
