Martin Powell has distributed this CD to a lot of klarinettists`, and I
think it probably fair to say that without exception all like it.
He ain`t in the first flush of youth as young Bliss is, (I don`t think he
will mind me publicising this), but it will take him another 40 years or
more to catch up with Brymer, and even Mr Brymer is still picking up the
"wand of youth" i.e. the clarinet, at times.

Martin financed this CD himself 5 or 6 years ago, and I for one hope that
further plans to record his talent may come to fruition again soon. He has
asked me to write something for him, which even the mere thought of, has me
wobbling around like a half unset jelly. Maybe it`s not for me, but I thank
him for the opportunity. This is not to say I won`t be continuing to attempt
to curb my wobble and put pen to paper hopefully soon (just in case he`s
listening).

There must be someone who has some political clout in the US who could bring
Martin to perform at one of the renouned clarinet conventions soon - maybe
next year? He certainly deserves it.

I met Martin for the first time last year when we both met Anne Lenoir near
London. Anne was on her way to Sweden. We all gathered in Martin`s hotel
room to play trios while baby David, Martin and Janet`s first offspring
entertained himself by investigating the hotel room floor on all fours.
Apart from Annie`s wonderful dry sense of humour, I found Martin to be one
of the most gentle guys I know. I hope he won`t mind me divulging to
klarinettists` also that I observed Janet to be a wonderful and very
beautiful wife and mother. What a lucky man he is, what with his musical
talent also.

So Nancy, over to you - make those calls and grab him before the rest of the
world does!
