Subj: [kl] shameless commercial message - R-13 for sale
Date: Wed, 25 Jun 2003 18:34:43 -0400

I have a lovely Buffet R-13 for sale. It was made in the mid 70's. Incredibly, it sat in a closet for the last 25 years.

It has one crack, which at the time was fixed correctly technically, but the repair was not pretty.

The owner put it away, discouraged.

Happily, he later acquired a new set of Buffets and plays nicely.

But he wanted to know if I could do something for his clarinet.

Well, I gave it the oil treatment, polished the bore, buffed the keys, gave it a thorough overhaul. I made the ugly crack repair disappear with new epoxy and lots of gently sanding.

What emerged is a really great 1970's vintage Buffet R-13 with, incredibly, very little wear. The tone is pure R-13, the keys are a tight as can be, and it has all new pads and corks. It plays better than either the R-13 or the Selmer 10-G that I perform on. (Grrrrrrrrr......).

If you want to take a peek, it's on my website www.clarinetxpress.com/forsale.html

I am, unfortunately, a BAD photographer, so the pics don't do it justice. I'll try again tomorrow.
