I rarely worked with one but I don't think it would so disconcerting
that I was troubled with it. Far more troublesome to me were conductors
who did parallel beating; i.e., the same beat with both hands and for
extended periods. It was so wasteful of energy and took away 50% of his
resources to deal with other hand-gesture matters.

Whenever I worked with a parallel beater, I automatically assumed that
he or she was a klutz. But then again, s/he may have thought me to be a
klutz.
