Messiaen was in a prisoner of war camp, not a concentration camp. There is
an excellent book on the Quartet for the End of Time that deals with both
the origins of the work and the work itself. Not especially expensive at
$17.95 either.

Messiaen - Quatour pour la fin du Temps by Anthony Pople. Cambridge
University Press, 1998, PB, 115 pages.
